JESSIE GRUNDSTROM
NORWAY- Jessie D. Grundstrom age 95 of Norway, died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, WI.
She was born in Norway on November 24, 1914 the daughter of the late John and Valborg (Gustafson) Isberg.
Jessie graduated from Norway High School in 1931 and went on to Miss. Brown’s School of Business in Milwaukee, WI.
She worked in Milwaukee for several years, before returning to Norway.
Jessie married Ragnar Grundstrom on March 30, 1941 in Escanaba; he preceded her in death on July 24, 1972.
Jessie worked for the Norway Current as a proofreader and gathered local news.
She was one of the plane spotters who watched for and identified aircraft from the tower at McKinley School during WWII.
Jessie also worked for Carlson’s Bakery for many years until she retired in 1970.
She was an active member in the Swedish Methodist Church, then Immanuel Methodist and finally Grace United Methodist Church, a member and officer of the United Methodist Women.
Jessie is survived by her son John Grundstrom of Allen Park, MI; daughter Janet Grundstrom of Plover, WI; nieces Marliss Hosking Lundquist of Mountain, WI and Frances Isberg Wilkins of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her infant son; brother Howard Isberg; sister Frances Biggs and nephews Harlan and Jack Hosking.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 3 from 10-11 a.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Ortman Funeral Home with Pastor Peggy Page officiating.
Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jessie’s name to the Grace United Methodist Food Pantry. |
