ALICE KLUSKENS
NIAGARA, WI- Alice L. Kluskens age 73 of Niagara Township, died peacefully, Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, MI, after a six-year battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born Alice Loretta Dolezal in Chicago, 1938. The youngest of four girls raised alone by their mother, Alice grew up in neighborhoods all over the city.
At The Hub Roller Rink, she met Emory Kluskens of Niagara Township. They married in 1958 at the Chicago Temple, and moved back to the township in 1972, with Emory's tool and die business and their two young sons in tow.
Alice fell in love with the north woods and gardening. She distinguished herself as a twenty-year 4-H leader, known throughout Wisconsin, and was an active citizen in the township.
Above all else, she valued learning and independent thought.
Alice is survived by stepson Jim and his wife Bobbie, sons Michael and Steve, their wives Claire and Sheila, and two grandchildren,
Bernard and Alexander.
Words cannot express the family's profound gratitude to Ann DeClark, who with her family, enriched Alice's last years with loving care and laughter.
Heartfelt thanks are also extended to DICSA's Family Ties Adult Center, Tri-City Cab, Norway Dental, Home Health Care Professionals, Unity Hospice, and to all those friends, family, and neighbors who went out of their way to lend a helping hand.
Alice loved animals; in lieu of flowers or cards, she would have been delighted by a memorial contribution to the Spring Lake Animal Shelter, where she found two of her beloved dogs.
At Alice’s request there will be no services at this time.
