WILLIAM HELGREN
NORWAY- William D. Helgren age 80 of Norway, died Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI.
He was born on February 11, 1932 in Iron Mountain, MI the son of the late Carl and Ruth (Lundberg) Helgren.
Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He married Ruth Welch on April 26, 1958 in the Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway; she preceded him in death on July 15, 1997.
Bill returned to the Norway area in 1969 and worked for Northland Grocers until his retirement.
He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, being outside, fishing and walking his dog. He also was a big supporter of the area’s community bands and loved to go to their concerts.
Bill is survived by his sons Jeff Helgren of Norway and Kevin (Kathryn) Helgren of Fox River Grove, IL; grandson Joshua Helgren; brothers Charles Helgren and Don Helgren; sister Ruth Holme; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother David Helgren and sister Dorothy Anderson.
Family will greet friends on Thursday, March 22, from 4-6 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church with Pastor James Danielson officiating.
Interment will be held at the Norway Township Cemetery. |
