Donald Siegler

DONALD SIEGLER NORWAY- Donald Siegler age 67 of Norway, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2007 at his home after a lengthy battle with Picks Disease and will be dearly missed by his loving wife, his two children, grandchildren, brothers and sister, and all who knew him. He was born on October 27, 1939 in Iron Mountain, the son of the late Louis and Laura (Morse) Siegler of Hardwood. Don graduated from Felch High School in 1957, and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964 as a MP and served in Korea. He married Bernice Servia in 1965 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Norway and they have been lifelong residents of the area. He was employed by the M.A. Hanna Mining Company and later at Lake Shore, Inc. and Al’s Furniture in Norway until his retirement in 2001. Don enjoyed his family, friends, sports, country music and being with people. He loved deeply his son Larry and daughter Janet and their children. When he was young he played softball and then took up golf. He has been a member of Oak Crest Golf Club for 40 years. He and his wife participated in many golf tournaments throughout the Upper Peninsula. Don also enjoyed hunting and going to camp with his brothers, nephews and friends. He also enjoyed bowling and attending high school sporting events. He was a member of the Loyal order of Moose, #1474 in Norway. Don is survived by his wife Bernice; son Larry (Carey) Siegler of Indianapolis, IN; daughter Janet (Bill) Spring of Vulcan; five grandchildren Brittany, Lexi, and Cooper Siegler and Jacob and Tyler Spring; three brothers Howard (Ceil) Siegler of Norway, Dale (Rose) Siegler of Hardwood, and Delbert (Shirley) Siegler of Norway Lake; sister Nancy (Stewart) Sundholm of Hardwood; many nieces and nephews. He also leaves special friends Al and Donna Spigarelli of Iron Mountain who were there for him during a most difficult time and gave him much enjoyment over the years. Also a special brother-in-law Walter (Gertrude) Servia of Munising who gave so much support. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Belva Jean. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Don’s brothers and sister, wonderful neighbors, friends and relatives, Marquette General Home Healthcare Hospice, Dr. Barry Johnson, and Dr. Paul Hayes for all their help, support and love. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5 from 4-8 p.m. and on Friday, July 6 from 9-10 a.m. at the Miner-Ortman Funeral Home in Norway. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 6 at 10 a.m. at the Miner-Ortman Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Hammer, pastor of Mission Covenant Church in Foster City, presiding. Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers for Don will be Bill Spring, Jay Siegler, Glen Siegler, Dorn Siegler, Brad Sundholm and Randy Servia.
