Joyce E. Larson

JOYCE LARSON NORWAY- Joyce Esther Larson age 83 of Iron Mountain, formerly of Norway, passed onto eternal life on January 16, 2009 at Hyland Nursing Home, where she was a resident since May 2003. She was born in Hermansville, on February 16, 1925 the daughter of the late Louis and Marie (LaCrosse) Zimmerman. Joyce married Edwin “Bud” Larson on February 21, 1942 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Norway. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1994. She was employed by Needlecraft in Norway, where she lived the majority of her life. She and her husband relocated in Greenfield, WI in 1965. Joyce was employed at Dor-O-Matic, Inc. until she joined her husband in retirement in 1979. The remainder of her life was lived in Norway, until the onset of her illness in 2003. Joyce was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Norway and enjoyed making quilts with the “Cover Girls” at the church. She belonged to the Anderson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Hall-DeWinter Post #145, American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends; she enjoyed writing poems, camping, ceramics, arts and crafts and was interested in painting. Joyce is survived by her daughters Darlene (James) Peebles of Iron Mountain and Carol (Larry) Trekas of Gladstone; grandchildren Lori (Alan) Unger, Shari (John) VanRemortel of Kingsford, Michael Peebles of Phoenix, AZ., Wes (Barbara) Litts of Gladstone, Kelly (Mathew) Kleiman of Kimberly, WI; great grandchildren Lindsay and Kristin Unger, Alison and Bradley VanRemortel, Alexis and Hannah Litts, Kailee Dabney and Rilea Kleiman; a loving sister Isabelle Ayotte of Norway; special sister-in-law Helen Larson of Iron Mountain; brothers-in-law Richard (Connie) Larson of Manitowoc, WI., Elwood (Joanne) Larson of Milwaukee, WI., Gary (Nancy) Larson of Merced, CA., Warren (Jane) Larson of Wilson and Charles Larson of Mountain, WI; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Merle Gustafson, and her brother Harold Zimmerman. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, from 2-4 p.m. at the Miner-Ortman Funeral Home in Norway. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Miner-Ortman Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Langlais of Bethany Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Norway Township Cemetery.
