Robert Brown

ROBERT BROWN NORWAY- Robert K. Brown, age 71 of Norway, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, WI. He was born in Naperville, IL. on July 19, 1934, the son of the late Leslie and Rose (Grimes) Brown. Robert graduated from Naperville Central High School in 1952 and served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Miriam Gibson on May 6, 1961. She preceded him in death on July 24, 1989. In the late 1950s, he started working at the Les Brown Chair Co. in Naperville with his parents. He took over as CEO and owner and moved the company to Hermansville in 1983, where he continued until his retirement in 2001. He married Barbara Schinderle on August 11, 2001. Robert served on the Board at Tri-Co, the MFC Bank Board in Escanaba from 1987-1997, was a member of the Chippewa Club in Iron Mountain and Past Member of Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed going to camp with his friends. Robert loved spending time with his family and friends and will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife Barbara; daughter Cynthia (Lee Van Voorhis) Brown of Washington, D.C.; sons Thomas Brown of Oregon, WI and William Brown of Northampton, MA; grandchildren Michelle Bargo, Colton and Alexa Van Voorhis; sister Phyllis (Ken) Venos of Norway; brothers Larry (Linda) Brown of Naperville, IL. and Leslie (Carolyn) Brown of Norway; step-daughters Monica (Don) Maule of Iron Mountain, Karen (Toby) Gendron of Iron Mountain, Brenda (Dan) Branam of Escanaba; step-son Frank (Becky) Schinderle of Iron Mountain; step grandchildren Samantha (Josh) Edwards, Michael and Melissa Maule, Jeremy, Jesse, Joe, Adam, Kristen Gendron, Brad, Hilary, Matt and Mason Schinderle, Shane, Brian and Jill Branam; many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his sister Janet Ostrey. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Miner-Ortman Funeral Home in Norway. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at 10 a.m. at the Miner-Ortman Funeral Home with Rev. David Wallis, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
