HAMILTON LAKES- Albert “Al” Zanoni age 66 of Hamilton Lakes, died Friday, October 13, 2017 at his home. Al was born March 23, 1951 in Chicago, IL. He was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Zanolini) Zanoni Jr. He lived life to its fullest, always staying busy learning new things and helping others. His adventurist spirit led him to many places and experiences. He worked and lived in Illinois, Florida, California, Vermont, Vancouver, Quebec and Michigan. He enjoyed being in the out of doors, and was an avid skin diver, hunter and fisherman. His favorite sports were karate, hockey and football. He loved being at the Big Pine Resort where he spent his summers as a youth and has lived for the past 24 years. He loved family gatherings and always made a point to talk with his many nephews and nieces. He especially loved any excuse for all of his brothers and sisters to be together. He never met a stranger and has countless friends that will miss him. Al is survived by his son; Jesse Zanoni, 10 siblings, Josephine (Frank) Jozwiak of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Michael (Valeria) Zanoni, Florence Redman of Des Moines Iowa, Joseph E. (Carol) Zanoni, of Carrollton, Texas, Mary Zanoni (John H. Louis) of Houghton, Michigan, Miriam (Bill) Baciak, Pier-George (Brenda) Zanoni of Lansing, Michigan, Theresa (Michael) DeGroot of Bark River, John V. (Mary Kay) Zanoni and Patricia (David) Pollard and; thirty-two nieces and nephews and thirty-six grand-nephews and grand-nieces and more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe & Catherine; brothers Anthony and Jim, and brother-in-law Rick Redman. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 16, from 5-8 p.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway. Parish Prayers will be on Monday at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 17, at 11 a.m., at St. Barbara’s Church in Vulcan with Fr. Tim Ekaitis officiating. Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all the many people who have prayed for Al these past two years. We also would like to thank OSF Hospice for their wonderful support of Al and all our family, along with the oncology staff at St. Francis Hospital, and most especially Darcy Getzloff, MSN, FNP-C. The Cancer Closet was also there for all of Al’s needs during his long illness. All of you gave Al and our family such comfort and hope.
