LORETTO- Andrew “Bonce” Mauro age 90 of Loretto, died Monday, March 21, 2016 at his home in Loretto. He was born on October 14, 1925 in Crystal Falls, the son of the late Joseph and Jennie (Lombardini) Mauro. Andrew worked at Borden’s Ice Cream factory in Detroit and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Dorothy Banfield on April 25, 1953 in St. Stephen’s Church in Loretto. Andrew worked at the Railroad Express Agency in Detroit for twenty nine years and moved back to his home in Loretto and worked for ISP for many years before retiring. He was very active in sports and a very good baseball player, he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox’s but he turned it down, because of family obligations. Andrew was the Dickinson Co. Horse Shoe Champion Class A for many years, and also enjoyed spending time at his son’s camp for deer season with family and friends. His family meant everything to him, he will be greatly missed. Andrew is survived by his wife of 63 years Dorothy; son Allan (Mandy) Mauro of Loretto; daughter Sue Ann Mauro of Loretto; grandsons Allan and Jordan Mauro; great grandchildren Norah and Lylah Mauro; and sister Rose Mauro of Loretto. In accordance to his wishes there will be no funeral services.
