Burnell "Bud" Schultz

October 16, 1933 - December 16, 2016

NORWAY- Burnell “Bud” Schultz age 83 of Norway, died Friday, December 16, 2016 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, WI. He was born on October 25, 1933 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, the son of the late James and Anna (Just) Schultz. Bud graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1951and started working for Valley Queen Grocers in Rhinelander. He married Loretta Norton on June 25, 1955 in St. Mary’s Church in Rhinelander, and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until he was honorable discharged in 1958. Bud and Loretta moved to Norway when Northland Grocers bought out Valley Queen. He was a Teamster for 42 years until his retirement. Bud drove school bus for Pete Calcaterra, owned and operated the Stoplite Bar for 10 years and was always a big help in the kitchen for Loretta for over 40 years. Bud is a member of St. Mary’s Church in Norway, the Sons of the American Legion and served on the Norway City Council from Nov. 2003 to Nov. 2005 and picked to fill a vacant seat from Feb. 2007 to Nov. 2007. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and jokes; he enjoyed playing cards and decorating for Christmas. Bud was a good family man to his family, children, grandchildren and many others that considered him as Dad and Grandpa. He enjoyed playing many games in the front yard followed by popcorn for all. Bud was also an avid Packer fan and race fan to his children and grandchildren. He even raced himself back in Rhinelander. Bud is survived by his wife of 61 years Loretta; son Timothy (Sandy) Schultz of Norway; daughter Lisa (Wayne) Malone of Norway; grandchildren Natasha (Jesse) Schultz, Tim (Amanda) Schultz, Jr. Anna (John) Neumeier, Katie (Larry) LaPine, Samantha Schultz, Jennifer (Micuel) Hernandez, and Eric (Michelle) Forstrom; great grandchildren Owen Cronick, Mason Schultz, Charlotte and Eleanor Neumeier, Kaleb and Aubree Lapine, Claudia, Benito, Gino and Sofia Hernandez and Cameron Clifford; sisters-in-law Caroll Levanetz of Rhinelander, WI, Bonnie (Ron) Ludwig of Merrill, WI, Debbie (Morrie) Newman of Buffalo, NY; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Thomas Schultz; brother James Schultz; and sister-in-law Marion Sharka. Family will greet friends on Tuesday, January 3 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Norway. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church with Fr. Timothy Ekaitis, presiding. Interment will be held in the spring at the Norway Township Cemetery.
