CECIL THOMAS NORWAY- Cecil Theron Thomas age 84 of Norway, died Friday, February 27, 2009 at Dickinson Co. Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, MI. He was born in Vulcan on September 12, 1924 the son of the late Tobias and Elizabeth (Davies) Thomas. Cecil graduated from Vulcan High School in 1941. He served his country in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II. Cecil married Mildred Morosini on April 24, 1945 in St. Barbara’s Church in Vulcan. He worked for an electrical contractor for over 40 years, retiring in 1987. Cecil was an artist, he enjoyed painting, wood working and carving. He also enjoyed spending time at his cottage with his family. He is survived by his wife of over 62 years Mildred; sons John (Lisa) Thomas of Gladstone and David (Wendi) Thomas of Niagara; daughter Donna (Todd) Sundstrom of Norway; grandchildren Cory and Lexann Thomas, Jim Sundstrom, Michelle, Paul and Jennifer Thomas; great grandson Stephen; daughter-in-law Kelly Thomas of Iron Mountain; brother Gordon Thomas of Quinnesec and Calvin (Lorraine) Thomas of Quinnesec; sister Ruth Van Ginkel of Norway; sister-in-law Mary Thomas of Milwaukee; many nieces and nephews. Cecil was preceded in death by his son Stephen Thomas, brothers Kenneth, Norman and Marvin Thomas. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church with Pastor James Danielson officiating. Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
