IRVING WARNER NORWAY- Irving E. Warner age 87 of Norway, died Saturday, July 2, 2005 at Manor Care Health Services in Kingsford. He was born on February 19, 1918 in Norway, the son of the late Edwin and Augusta (Johnson) Warner. Irving married Charlotte Melin on September 9, 1941 in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Prior to entering the Army, Irving served with the CCC’s. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, in the South Pacific, Pearl Harbor, New Guinea and the Philippines. After the service, Irving worked in the woods before starting at the Niagara Paper Mill in 1946. He worked there for 34 years before retiring in 1980. After retirement Irving enjoyed camping with his family and especially with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, cross-country skiing and was an avid football fan; he rarely missed a Lake Linden game and truly enjoyed watching all the Michigan State, Lions and Packer games. Irving is a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Norway. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Charlotte; sons Richard (Merry) Warner of East Lansing and Ronald (Kathy) Warner of Norway; grandchildren Kristine (Jerry) Weller of Ada, Stacy (Robert) Matson of Vulcan, Kathy Warner of East Lansing, Gregg Warner of Royal Oak, and Ronald Warner of Marquette; great grandchildren Olivia Weller, Samantha and Max Matson and Alexis Bailey; several nieces and nephews. Irving was preceded in death by his brothers George, Edward and Edlore Warner and his sister Edna Pozza. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6 from 10 to 1 p.m. at the Miner-Ortman Funeral Home in Norway. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Miner-Ortman Funeral Home, with Rev. John Voelker, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
