LOREN ETKA NIAGARA TWP.- Loren Ross Etka age 88 of Niagara Twp died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at his home. He was born on March 12, 1925 in Amberg, Wisconsin the son of the late Wilbur and Muriel (Briggs) Etka. Loren served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II on a mine sweeping and sonar ship. He married Armelene Vanderlin on April 3, 1948 at St. Mary’s Church in Norway. Loren worked for LakeShore Inc. for 42 years, first as a machinist, a supervisor and finally an estimator, he retired in 1987. He loved to fix and build things including a camp and house, he was a very hard worker and did everything himself. He loved to help everyone with projects or just advice. He was generous with his time, gifts, and skills. There was nothing he couldn’t do. Loren is survived by his wife of 65 years Armelene; daughters Susan (Roger) Lindgren of Green Bay, Mary Beth (David) Hagen of Gladstone and Carol (Ken) Scammahorn of Cashmere, WA; son Richard (Becky) Etka of Waucedah; daughter-in-law Alana Etka of Aurora, WI; grandchildren Kristen (Zach) Lindgren-Voelz, Karl (Michelle Keehan) Lindgren, Kimberly Lindgren, Kristoffer (Rebecca) Hagen, Apryl (Travis) Steinmetz, Benjamin Hagen, Melissa Scammahorn, Loren Scammahorn and Amanda (Scott) Nowack; 8 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Gordon Etka and sister Doris Johns. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8 from 2-4 p.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Ortman Funeral Home with Rev. James Danielson, pastor of Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway, presiding. Interment will be on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Norway Township Cemetery.
