Richard C. Peterson

October 29, 1926 - October 17, 2006

RICHARD PETERSON KENOSHA, WI. – Richard “Dick” Carl Albert Peterson age 79 of Kenosha, formerly of Norway, Phoenix, and Golden Valley, AZ, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Aurora Health Care Center in Kenosha, WI. He was born on October 29, 1926 in Norway the son of the late David and Alma (Haglund) Peterson. Dick graduated from Norway High School in 1944. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married to Margaret E. Hicks of Iron Mountain. Dick was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway, employed at Kimberly Clark Paper Mill in Niagara for 17 years. He also started a Country Western Band in the early 1960’s called the Night Riders. He took an active part in starting a Babe Ruth Baseball Team with the Norway Recreational Department in 1963. With his family, he moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1968 where he worked for The Salt River Project, which he retired from in 1983. Dick then focused on his love for music. He was a member of the Pickers and Grinners Society and an active member of the Arizona Songwriters Association. He was married to Eva Mickey of Golden Valley, AZ. Dick then moved to Golden Valley, AZ in 1998 where he was a member of the American Legion Post #0022. He lived there until June 2006 when he moved to Kenosha, WI to be with his daughter. Dick is survived by his son William (Georgianna) Peterson of Austin, TX; daughter Patricia (Richard) St. Martin; grandsons David, Kurt (Jessica) and Robert St. Martin; great grandsons Isaiah and Aiden; great granddaughter Emma who all live in Kenosha, WI; brother David Peterson of Phoenix, AZ; and stepdaughter Margaret Lowes of Golden Valley, AZ. He was preceded in death by his son Robert C. Peterson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 21 from 10 to 1 p.m. at the Miner-Ortman Funeral Home in Norway. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Miner-Ortman Funeral Home with Rev. James Danielson, pastor of Evangelical Covenant Church, officiating. Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
