Robert Earl Johnson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

NORWAY- Robert “Bob” Earl Johnson age 90 of Norway, died Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI. He was born on July 6, 1927 in Norway, the son of the late Einer and Bernice (Gustafson) Johnson. Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Verna Schindler on March 27, 1948 in St. Stephens Church in Loretto. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2013. Bob worked for the DNR in the fire division until his retirement. Bob was the president of the Curtis J. Brackett Memorial Foundation, and very active in the community, including Norway Area Little League, Marion Park, Knights Kingdom, the Norway-Vulcan Senior Center, honored as Friend of Norway and many other community activities. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing and being outdoors. Bob is survived by his sons Bobby (June) Johnson of England, Terry (Lynda) Johnson of Waucedah, Leonard Johnson of Vulcan and Jay (Raylene) Johnson of Vulcan; daughter Lynn (Jim) Gironimi of Norway; son-in-law Dave Cheatham of Eagle Pointe, OR; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters Sally (Robert) Zanoni and Susie (David) Oberthaler; sister-in-law Marybelle Johnson; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rosemary Cheatham; brother Larry Johnson; sisters Rita Anderson, Lois Whitford, Joan Flink, and Nancy Curiel. Family will greet friends on Tuesday, April 24 from 4-7 p.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway. Interment will be held at a later date at the Norway Township Cemetery.
