Walter Bellmore

NORWAY- Walter Bellmore, Jr. age 93 of Norway, died Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at his home in Norway. He was born on July 26, 1928 in Hermansville, the son of the late Walter and Viola (Peterson) Bellmore, Sr. Walt graduated from Hermansville High School in 1946 and started working at the Niagara Paper Mill. In 1950, Walt joined the US Army to serve his country during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge in 1952 he returned home and resumed working for the Niagara Paper Mill until his retirement in 1993. Walt married Lois Ihlenfeldt on June 16, 1956 in Marenisco, MI. She preceded him in death on June 21, 2005. Walt was an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Norway, he enjoyed cooking for the Men’s breakfast at church and having coffee with his church friends. He was a member of Floriano-Stecker Post #340, American Legion in Hermansville, enjoyed going to the casino, golfing, gardening, wintering in Arizona and traveling with family. Walt loved to attend his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. He is survived by son Mark (Patti) Bellmore of Quinnesec; daughters Joan Groleau of Norway, Diane Bellmore of Norway; grandchildren Jodi (Jason) Kangas of Iron Mountain, Brianne (David Anderson) Bellmore of Kingsford, Brandon (Meagan Forstrom) Bellmore of Kingsford, Darren Groleau of Quinnesec, Roy Groleau of Iron Mountain, Rachel Allen of Lake Geneva, WI, and Carrie Scott of Kingsford, great grandchildren Reece and Oskar Kangas, Beau Chartier, Braylon Anderson, Ryleigh Bellmore, Lillian Allen, Carter Groleau, Emma and Olivia Scott; sister-in-law Rose Bellmore of Hermansville; many nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Walt was also preceded in death by his daughter Karen Sue Bellmore; step-mother Irene Bellmore; brother Eugene Bellmore; sister Mary Ann Wesley; son-in-law Tim Groleau; and brother-in-law Vernon Ihlenfeldt. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12 from 10-12 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Norway. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 12 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Michael Langlais officiating. Interment will be at the Norway Township Cemetery.
