Dolores M. Stack

DOLORES STACK NORWAY- Dolores Mary Stack, age 85, died on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Oak Crest Assisted Living Center in Norway. Dolores was born on October 8, 1924, in Alpena, Michigan the daughter of the late Julius and Josephine (Stepanski) Leskie, who raised her in a strong Polish culture: nurturing her in the Catholic faith and fostering her to be kind and generous. Dolores loved to dance and it was while dancing-the-night-fantastic she met her future husband Chester Stack from Bay City. Chester and Dolores were married on December 9, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alpena. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1996. They made their home across the street from her parents, with three young children; Dolores set aside her nursing career to be a stay-at -home mother. She took great pride in her ability to cook and bake. Her kitchen was always filled with great smells. In her house, there was always room for ice cream. In 2006, Dolores came to reside in Norway. For various periods of time, she was cared for in Manorcare in Kingsford and Oak Crest in Norway. She considered her caregivers an extended family. They treated her well and made her laugh. The angels of North Alert Ambulance Service came to her rescue many times. She was thankful for the healthcare Dr. Paul Hayes and Dr. Nilar Shein who treated her with gentle hands and heart. Dolores is survived by her three children; Jeffrey (Ebie) Stack of Norway and Kingsford, Debbie (Peter) Stack-Moulds of Grand Rapids and Pamela (Anthony) Dell’Eva of Commerce Township; her three grandchildren, Catherine Stack of New York City, NY, Emilie Stack of Marquette, MI and Loren (Kelly) Moulds of Charlottesville, VA.; her beloved sister Pat (Clarence) Markowski of Alpena; and Dolores held special in her heart her godchild Susie (Bob) LaCrosse of Alpena and Judy (Gerald) Wilson of Bay City. She was preceded in death were her parents, her husband, her brother Jerry, her nephew Tommy Markowski and her favorite sister-in-law Helen Guzdial. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 3 from 5-7 p.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway. A rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. with Fr. Tim Ekaitis, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 5 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Alpena, Michigan. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Alpena.
