Donald J. LeClair

DONALD LeCLAIR Vulcan- Donald J. LeClair age 90 of Vulcan, died Friday, May 30, 2014 at ManorCare Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Kingsford, MI. He was born on May 15, 1924 in Lena, WI, the son of the late John and Barbara (Levash) LeClair. He graduated from Niagara High School in 1942. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II on board the ship Anzio where her aircraft fought forces throughout the Pacific Islands. Her sister ship, the Bismark Sea, while steaming close the Anzio, went down under an enemy attack. Don married LaVerne Hoheisel on July 24, 1954 at St. Mary's Church in Norway. She preceded him in death in June 1983. He worked for the Niagara Paper Mill for 42 years where he was a supervisor. Don married Marion "Dolly" (Plante) Paupore in October 1989 at St. Mary's Church in Norway. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, baseball, gardening, bowling and going to camp, where he was the camp cook. In his early 20's he played baseball for many leagues. He was called "Twinkle Toes" because of his love of dancing. Don is survived by his wife Marion "Dolly"; daughters Marilyn LeClair of Norway and Kathy (Mark) Faulds of Port Washington, WI: step-sons Jeffrey (Lynn) Paupore of Arizona, Daniel (Sue) Paupore of Vulcan, David Paupore of Norway and Mark (Kitty) Paupore of Vulcan; grandchildren Lauren Faulds, Kaitlin, Richard, Alex, Andy, Derek (Sarah) Paupore, Nicole (Terry) Skog and Eric (Elizabeth) Paupore and Kristin ( Brian) Kass; many great grandchildren; brother John (Judy) LeClair of Cedar Grove, WI; sisters Virginia Coombs of Norway and Barbara (Doug) Bezier of Green Bay, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Alfred LeClair and sisters Cecelia LeClair and Ethel Trovinger and step-son John "Jack" Paupore. Family will greet friends on Wednesday, June 11 from 10-11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Norway. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church with Fr. Timothy Ekaitis presiding. A special catered funeral luncheon will follow at St. Mary's. Interment will be held at the Norway Township Cemetery.
