Rosemary G. Stanchina

NORWAY- Rosemary G. Stanchina age 95 of Norway, died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at her home in Norway. She was born on April 18, 1919 in Norway, the daughter of immigrant parents, the late George and Mary (Paul) Massa. Rosemary graduated from Norway High School class of 1936. Following graduation she worked in Milwaukee for a few years before returning to Norway. Rosemary married Daniel C. Stanchina on June 1, 1946 in St. Mary’s Church in Norway. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2000. She was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, and she sang in the church choir for many years. She was also a member of the Norway-Vulcan Women’s Club and enjoyed playing in several bridge clubs though June of this year. Rosemary was the first woman to serve on the Norway City Council and the County Board of Commissioners. She is survived by her children Dr. Mary (Wayne) Becker of Durham, NC, Gregg (Pat) Stanchina of Iron Mountain, Georgia Kay (Edward) Chounard and Jeffrey Stanchina of Norway; grandchildren Brent (Dana) Becker of Shanghai, Ryan Becker of Carolina Beach, NC, Jordan (Kristin) Stanchina of Iron Mountain, Jared (Lisa) Stanchina of Aliso Viejo, CA, Joel Stanchina of Iron Mountain, David, Jason (Kelly), Michelle (Shannon) Lucero of Littleton, CO and Nick Stanchina of Norway; great grandchildren Avery, Brooke, Elliott Becker, Veronica Stanchina, Audriana and Jagger Stanchina, Morgan, Cailee and Emily Lucero. Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship started, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you the sunshine to tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
